The Oljato Fund
Fund Premise
In recognition of the profound benefits provided by their experiences at Camp
Oljato, the alumni of the Camp Oljato Staff have created the Oljato Fund, a private
entity, to ensure similar experiences will be extended to future generations.
Fund Mission Statement
The Fund will provide direct support for Camp Oljato by instigating, funding,
and implementing beneficiary projects in coordination with the Pacific Skyline Council.
These may be projects improving the physical facility or camp program as deemed needed
by Camp Oljato Staff Alumni in conjunction with the Council Camping Committee. This
support will augment and not conflict with other ongoing Council projects or fundraising
campaigns.
Structure of the Fund
- The Fund will be a private entity wholly independent of both the Boy Scouts of
America and the Pacific Skyline Council.
- The Fund will formulate project ideas, raise the needed funds and resources and
implement these ideas without being dependent upon support from the Pacific Skyline
Council.
- The Fund will be managed by an Advisory Committee as described below.
- The Fund will be administered by the Pennisula Community Foundation, and will
abide by the FCFís requirements as a recognized non-profit Foundation. Such a structure
will ensure that contributions to the fund are tax-deductable.
- All projects will be approved by Pacific Skyline Council and will augment the
Council's ongoing Camp Oljato goals. The Fund will promote specific projects annually
and raise funds and other resources as needed to accomplish these projects.
- All contributions to the Fund will be used solely for designated projects benefiting
Camp Oljato (excepting minor administrative costs).
Project Requirements
The Fund will consider projects which provide a direct benefit for Camp Oljato
and its campers. Projects may be suggested by anyone through a written proposal to
the Fund. Projects will be reviewed and approved by the Advisory Committee and the
Pacific Skyline Council. Project proposals may be for physical facility improvements
or program improvements, but not for annual camp operations or routine camp expenditures.
Projects to be considered by the Fund might include:
- Additions to or repairs to infrastructure or structures beyond normal maintenance·
- Equipment required for the Camp that is above and beyond that required for the
normal programming.
- Funds for camperships for needy Scouts
- Major infrastructure projects, for which the Fund may provide matching funds
to complement those raised by the Council.
Determination of Project Funding
Fund allocation will be determined by the Camp Oljato Fund Advisory Committee.
The Advisory Committee will have the ability to allocate any or all of the assets
of the Fund to the projects of their choice.
