The Lodge has long suffered from "deferred maintenance" as the Council does not allocate funds to its upkeep since the Lodge is not a program area directly benefiting the scouts. Each winter, the Lodge gets flooded by snow melt seepage, consequently, the Lodge has suffered a lot of damage. For these and many other reasons, the initial focus of The Fund backed projects will be Stern Lodge. As an inaugural project, The Fund has completed construction of a drainage system cut into the granite around the lodge's exterior. This will keep spring snow melt from draining through the building that causes so much damage year after year. Also, repair of the stone foundation will be done as needed. Future projects may include a new roof, replacement siding, and interior renovations.
